The Thunder could save close to $100 million in luxury tax by waiving Anthony, then stretching his remaining $27.9 million over three seasons (the Thunder has until August 31 to stretch his contract).

Free agent forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute has signed a one-year deal to play with the Los Angeles Clippers.

There is no timetable for when Anthony will be made available, but it seems clear that once he is available, the Heat will be one of the teams strongly pursuing him.

A league source confirmed the meeting.

Carmelo Anthony is now being pursued by the Houston Rockets.

In an offseason that was expected to be very quiet for the Heat, signing Anthony would be a fairly welcome surprise.

Clint Capela is a restricted free agent, but the expectation is that he will eventually reach a deal to keep him in Houston.

Those rumours picked up steam Tuesday when Wojnarowski reported that Anthony was given permission by the Thunder to meet with prospective teams. Swapping Melo for a player (s) of lesser value would also create a trade exception for OKC.

Reports surfaced on July 6 that the Thunder were looking to move Anthony. He averaged 12.1 points and 22.7 minutes during his 41 games with the Rockets.

Anthony, who turned 34 last month, is coming off a season in which he averaged a career-low 16.2 points and shot a career-worst 40.4 percent from the field.

Worryingly, his presence on the court saw the Thunder's team plus/minus rating slide to negative 14.3 during the playoffs.
