Questions instantly turned to the field, with many casual observers wondering whether the US will automatically qualify for the tournament.

Canadian officials have already said that there is a movement to stage games in all three countries on the tournament's opening day, should the so-called United bid carry the day. Europe went 41-12 for the joint America bid with Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Serbia and Turkey among those that sided with Morocco.
From the quarter-finals onwards all of the games will be hosted by the U.S. and the final is set to be played at the 82,500-capacity MetLife Stadium in NY.
And ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who is banned from soccer roles for six years over financial misconduct, announced in February that he felt Morocco was "the logical host" for the tournament as co-hosting had been "rejected" by Federation Internationale de Football Association following the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
