The 2026 World Cup will look a whole lot different from previous iterations of the tournament, thanks to the fact that it will be hosted by three countries - the United States, Mexico and Canada - and expanded to 48 teams for the first time. Questions instantly turned to the field, with many casual observers wondering whether the US will automatically qualify for the tournament.

Kansas City's central location, stadium capacity and soccer culture make it a likely host. Several hotels around the metro would host teams and FIFA VIPs during the tournament.

In eight year's time, numerous young rising stars of the United States men's national team should be in their prime as it is expected to be the first World Cup with 48 teams.

The socks are red and Montopoli wore them when Canada won the right to host the 2015 Women's World Cup as well as the 2012 and 2016 women's Olympic bronze-medal matches. U.S. will regroup in the coming years and attempt to clinch a spot in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar before turning its attention to home pursuits.

That includes U.S. Sen.

"On behalf of our United Bid, thank you so so very much for this incredible honor", U.S. Soccer president Carlos Cordeiro said after the vote was announced.

The current blueprint calls for Canada and Mexico to stage 10 games each with the USA hosting 60. The US, however, hosted the country on its own merit in 1994, while Mexico have twice before organised the tournament, in 1970 and in 1986. Leaders of the Morocco bid said they expected an African tournament to generate $5 billion in revenue. The final vote ended with 134 to the United States and 65 for Morocco. Canadian officials have already said that there is a movement to stage games in all three countries on the tournament's opening day, should the so-called United bid carry the day. The problem was Donald Trump.

On June 11 IHOP finally revealed what the mysterious "b" stood for after they had been teasing the public with hints all week. Some dismayed fans just could not understand the need for it. "I'm open-minded so I'll at least give them a chance".

The 2026 award is also a victory for many of FIFA's corporate partners, which will have the advantage of more teams and the world's biggest media market.

Filato said the city estimates the financial return from hosting World Cup games will be around $200 million.

FIFA's World Cup soccer is coming to Canada, but Vancouver is not among the host cities after B.C. backed out of the bid for the games earlier this year.

Part of the United bid guaranteed all games would be played on natural grass, which means if Commonwealth Stadium is chosen as a final venue, the artificial turf would be replaced for the tournament.

Europe went 41-12 for the joint America bid with Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Serbia and Turkey among those that sided with Morocco.

From the quarter-finals onwards all of the games will be hosted by the U.S. and the final is set to be played at the 82,500-capacity MetLife Stadium in NY.

And ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who is banned from soccer roles for six years over financial misconduct, announced in February that he felt Morocco was "the logical host" for the tournament as co-hosting had been "rejected" by Federation Internationale de Football Association following the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
