"Over 18 million people", said President Trump.

She also directed two apology tweets to Valerie Jarrett, the former Obama adviser whom Barr disparaged in a racist tweet early Tuesday this morning. Barr tweeted: "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj". "I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I hope the good work done is not totally eclipsed by these abhorrent and offensive comments, and that Roseanne seeks the help she so clearly needs".

But it was too little too late.

The second season of Roseanne could have earned ABC $60 million in advertising revenue, according to projections from an ad-tracking firm.

Roseanne Barr says that tweeting under the influence of the prescription sleep aid Ambien is what led to her post a racist remark that subsequently got her sitcom, 'Roseanne, ' cancelled by ABC. Here, Barr is pictured attending the premiere of ABC's "Roseanne" at Walt Disney Studio Lot on March 23, in Burbank, California. ABC has canceled Roseanne, her show. She said the situation was a "teaching moment". She also said she was leaving Twitter. "I'm anxious about the people out there who don't have a circle of friends and followers who come right to their defense".

The reboot of her hit '90s sitcom had been a ratings hit.

The family also was divided by the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath.

"He talked about jobs, Jackie", Roseanne says of the president.

Meanwhile, Barr's co-workers spoke out against her on social media.

Mr. Trump, who reveled in the success of Roseanne after Ms. Barr's character in the show came out as a supporter of his presidency, made no mention of the firing in a campaign-style rally in Tennessee on Tuesday evening.

And Barr has now been dropped by her agents over the racist tweet. Comic Wanda Sykes, a "Roseanne" writer, tweeted that she wouldn't be returning to the show.

"I am hurt, embarrassed, and disappointed", Miss Kenney tweeted.

The White House isn't providing a reaction to the cancellation of "Roseanne" on ABC, with press secretary Sarah Sanders telling reporters during an Air Force One gaggle that the president has been "extremely focused" on the upcoming summit with North Korea and other matters. After co-stars Sara Gilbert and Michael Fishman tweeted their own condemnation of the tweets, Roseanne fired back.
