PSG makes Tuchel new man in charge

While Emery led the Parisians to a domestic treble, his contract was not renewed. The reason, of course, is the failure of Carlo Ancelotti, Laurent Blanc and, most recently, Unai Emery in the Champions League.

Tuchel left Dortmund last year with one year left on his contract because of a strained relationship with the club's board, just after winning the German Cup. However, despite this success, the club and manager parted ways by mutual consent after clashing over transfer dealings.

They are now, following the long-rumored, finally-official appointment of Thomas Tuchel, about to welcome their fourth manager over a seven-year span that has seen them win 14 trophies.

"It is with much joy, pride and ambition that I am joining this big club", said Tuchel in a statement released by PSG. "I can't wait to work with all these great players, who are all among the very best on the planet", declared the man of the hour upon putting pen to paper on Monday. "With my staff, we will do everything to help the team push their limits to the highest global level", said Tuchel, in a statement released by PSG.

"There is extraordinary potential in Paris and this is the most exciting challenge that I have received. I am also impatient to get to know the Parc des Princes, a famous European stadium and one that boasts an incredible atmosphere". Often described as a tactical genius, Tuchel did great things with Bundesliga side Mainz between 2009 and 2014 and the Chelsea and Arsenal target is now looking to bring his skills to bear with the capital club's more affluent means.

In fact, Neymar has been linked with a departure from Paris for quite some time, with his former team's arch-rivals, Real Madrid, dubbed as the favourites to secure his services.

"This is the style that fans of our club have always looked for and admired".
