After the injury to Ronaldo in El Clasico at the Nou Camp, the five-time Balon d'Or victor has said he will be fit in time for the Champions League final against Liverpool, on May, 26.

The controversial incidents included Bale escaping without a yellow after a unsafe challenge on Barca defender Samuel Umtiti; a straight red card for Barca right-back Sergi Roberto just before half-time for striking Marcelo; another Luis Suarez goal for Barca disallowed with an offside call; and a Madrid penalty appeal turned down when Jordi Alba tripped Marcelo.

"La Liga, for coaches, is the one that tells you how a team has been for the whole year".

The home fans were raging as the half-time whistle blew but, with Marco Asensio on for Ronaldo, they were celebrating eight minutes after the restart.

But he is expected to be return to training "next Monday", with a view to featuring in Real's final game of the Liga campaign at Villarreal, which is now set for May 20.

Los Blancos will defend their decision by pointing out Barcelona didn't do the same after Real won the Club World Cup, but there's no such tradition.

"There was nothing at stake but it was a good Clasico - high intensity and chances".

In particular, the Spanish global was not happy with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. Bale was lucky to be on the pitch after a challenge on Samuel Umtiti which left the Welshman's studs in the Frenchman's calf, which he then raked down his leg.

Worse was to follow after the break when he didn't whistle for a foul as Suarez took down Varane on the way to assisting Messi for Barca's second. "The Champions League final?" But it was another magnificent goal, one again involving Suarez, who set Messi up, before the Argentine moved back on himself and shot the ball through a tight angle.

That goal was Ronaldo's 18th against Barcelona, levelling the Madrid record in the Clasico previously held outright by club great Alfredo Di Stefano.

Karim Benzema has been a constant target for criticism all year long, but the former Lyon man is quietly putting together a solid stretch of late.

Madrid play the Champions League final against Liverpool on May 26, but Zidane said he did not think Ronaldo was in danger of missing the showpiece in Kiev.

The lead did not even last five minutes, though, Ronaldo inevitably central as he made it 12 goals in his last 12 visits to Camp Nou. "That's the positive. We're happy because we can still end the league season without losing".
