US National Average Gasoline Price Dips Just a Little

Although prices have dropped in the Coldwater area, it appears there is no change to the state's average gas price compared to last week.

But online gas price monitor found the average retail gasoline prices in Lansing have fallen 15.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.79 per gallon.

Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.81, which is the same as one week ago.

AAA reports drivers are paying $3.232 per gallon in OR, which is 50 cents higher than 2017, and $3.322 in Washington.

North Dakota's state average is at $2.70 with prices steadily increasing the more you go west. That drop was still 15.5 cents higher than a month ago and 44.2 cents more than 2017 prices at this time.

Gas prices around the country have creeped up, mostly due to continuing efforts to switchover stocks to the more expensive summer blend to meet federal mandates by June 1. The survey of prices was conducted by AAA Northeast.

"If this past week's moderate increases are any indicator of what's to come, the fast rate at which gas prices were increasing may be slowing down", Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson, said in a Monday news release.

Anchorage- $3.20/g, up 0.9 cents per gallon from last week's $3.19/g.

Hartford- $2.92/g, up 2.6 cents per gallon from last week's $2.90/g.

"Consumers are missing a big opportunity at the pump when it comes to saving time and money", head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy Patrick DeHaan said in a story with the study.

In the past month, oil prices have risen 10% and economists at The Wall Street Journal said due to indications by President Trump that he may withdraw from a 2015 worldwide agreement with Iran that allowed an increase in oil exports in return for sanctions to its nuclear program. The threat that the president may pull out of the Iran treaty and reimpose sanctions against the Islamic Republic could push oil up by as much as $10 a barrel.
