The local Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive collected 23,173 pounds of food previous year, feeding an estimated 1,500 people, according to a Loaves & Fishes press release.
Participants should leave non-perishable food donations in a bag by their mailbox on Saturday, and their letter carrier will collect it.
UFCW President Marc Perrone said, "Helping feed America's hungry is a mission we are proud to share in, and by participating in the Letter Carriers' Stamp out Hunger food drive, we can give American families wholesome, nutritious food".
Last year, over 32,000 pounds of food was collected in East Texas.

On Saturday, May 12, the letter carriers of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties will join forces to help Stamp Out Hunger in our community. The Soup Kitchen often receives donations leading up to Christmas and by springtime, shelves and food supplies are depleted and remain low throughout the summer months.
Over the course of its 25-year history, the national drive has collected approximately 1.6 billion pounds of food, according to the press release.
Letter carriers in the Lehigh Valley this year will be aided by volunteers from Teamsters Local #773, Keenan House and the Northampton County Probation Department.
"All they have to do is put nonperishable food items in those bags and leave the bags out at their mailbox", Somers said. Any non-perishable food items (but not home canned items) in the original packaging are welcome. The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the country's largest single-day food drive, provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need in the community.
