Shamej suffered serious cut injuries and died on the way to the government medical college hospital in Kozhikode. The victim Shanoj, an auto driver, was rushed to a hospital near Kannur, where he later succumbed to injuries and was declared dead.

Soon after the murder of CPM man in Mahe, clashes broke out between RSS and CPM men New Mahe, resulting in the death of an RSS man at New Mahe. The CPI (M) has called for a strike today in Kannur district and Mahe.

The police in the area has launched a manhunt and is taking all precautionary measures to ensure that the situation doesn't deteriorate further.
