Meanwhile, another report from the Economic Daily News last month highlighted that the upcoming triple camera iPhone model will include a 6P lens design with up to 5x zoom.
PU believes that phones with three cameras will be the next trend in the world of smartphones, partly due to Huawei and its three-compartment model Huawei P20 Pro. One of them is likely to be the successor of the iPhone X and may be called iPhone X Plus. The report further claims that Huawei is developing a low-end model of the P20 Pro with three cameras on the back, although the launch date has not been made clear.
Reports also say the triple lens could be used for "powering advanced mapping systems".
One advantage which Apple might have over its rivals is the presence of a 3D camera sensor.

By including the third lens, it will be for the first time that an iPhone will feature 3x optical zoom similar to that of the Huawei's recently announced P20 Pro.
In our recent review we described the P20 Pro as a photographer's dream and placed the cameras above the Galaxy S9 Plus. Only the 8MP telephoto camera comes with optical image stabilization (OIS), while the other two cameras use AIS, Huawei's software stabilization technology that's powered by AI. As per reports, Apple may introduce three new iPhone models in 2019 and one out of those three may boast a triple camera module.
According to a security analyst, Jeff Pu, Apple might launch a phone with a tri-camera setup in the second half of 2019.
Just like all speculations, it should be taken with a grain of salt.
