As a result of the violence over alleged fraud being perpetrated by one of the leading aspirants, stalemated All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship primary in Ekiti State has been postponed indefinitely.

Speaking in Ifaki-Ekiti on Sunday, Oni said the way some people who were discovered to be friends of a particular aspirant were nominated into the Ekiti governorship primary committee put the integrity of the party's national leadership to question.

They accused an agent to Fayemi, Mr. Samuel Abejide of dictating to delegates who to vote for and also writing the serial numbers of their ballot papers to authenticate who they actually voted for, probably for pecuniary gains after the poll.

He said, "Another worrisome development is the information at my disposal that the APC is plotting to sponsor thugs to disrupt the PDP primary election scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, 2018, so as to create the impression that violence is common to all political parties".

Only delegates from five local governments had voted and it was the turn of the sixth council when the violence erupted.

"Ekiti APC is not in any way fractured, we are one big family".

Coker, however, praised the appeal panel for upturning the verdict of the screening committee, led by former Bayelsa state governor, Timipre Sylva, saying his initial disqualification was a misguided action targeted at rubbishing him, Vanguard reports. If Fayemi defeats us, we are all going to back him, because the party is supreme.

Trouble started at about 5.30 pm when some agents raised observations about how the process was being allegedly compromised, accusing some security agents of dictating to delegates who they should vote for. "The primary will be conducted and it must be free, fair and credible".

Police and other security agencies made reinforcement and drafted amoured carrier to the stadium to bring the situation under control.

"I contested against Fayemi in 2007 and I know what I am talking about".

Dr Fayemi, who said he was not surprised by the disruption of the exercise, revealed that the security agencies had, a few days to the primary, been notified of plans by some aspirants to deploy hoodlums to disrupt the voting exercise.

However, Security agencies arrested one man for allegedly trying to grab the ballot box and he was stripped naked and taken to their custody in handcuff.
