"At about 3:30 am today, the militants shot both of them dead", the official was quoted by Press Trust of India.
A man and his nephew were abducted and killed by gunmen in north Kashmir's Hajin area of Bandipora district on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, police said.
Police said militants on Friday night barged into the houses of 45-year-old Ghulam Hassan Dar alias Hassan Rassa and Bashir Ahmad Dar, 26, at Gulshan Mohalla, Shahgund Hajin and abducted both of them at gunpoint.
