'Active Shooter' in Mill Valley Leaves 2 Hospitalized, Deputies Looking for Gunman

Deputies are responding to an active shooter at a Mill Valley apartment complex this afternoon.

Deputies finally entered the apartment about two hours after the shooting and found the gunman dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot, Schneider said. Two victims were hospitalized in the attack, according to the department.

"The shooter was described as an approximately 80-year-old Hispanic or Filipino man about 5'2" and wearing a white T-shirt. Deputies helped transport the victims to ambulances and began evacuating neighboring apartments.

While studies have shown correlation, the American Heart Association has deemed the evidence inconclusive to suggest causation. The reason may be attributed to atherosclerosis, the narrowing of arteries which is a major risk factor for stroke.

Deputies took two victims from the scene to medical personnel while authorities set up a perimeter to search for the suspect.

"At this time evacuations are still being done in surrounding areas and we believe we have a good perimeter".
