With a 4-6 record in the their last 10 games, a loss to the Atlanta Braves Wednesday night, the New York Mets have fallen a half-game back in the NL East after a fast start to the season.

Callaway's remarks came shortly after a New York Daily News report, citing Mets sources, said deGrom was expected to miss at least four starts with the hyperextended elbow. "He's gonna try to make his start on Monday".

The Mets said deGrom received an MRI Wednesday night and was examined Thursday morning at The Hospital for Special Surgery in NY.

"Nothing wrong with him", Callaway told reporters at Citi Field on Thursday.

DeGrom is scheduled to start Monday night's game in Cincinnati against the Reds. He still went out to pitch the top of the fourth before he was removed following the inning.

Speaking after Wednesday's game, Callaway didn't rule out the idea of Matt Harvey returning to the starting rotation to replace deGrom. "He said, 'You know what?"

It is believed he hurt himself following through on a swing, of all things. So I'm just not going to swing the rest of the night.' He said, 'It feels fine throwing.' He hadn't had any issues throwing. "So we got him out of there". The exact point of deGrom's injury has also been confirmed by Mets' manager Mickey Calloway.

Callaway indicated Wednesday night he was considering Corey Oswalt or Matt Harvey to take deGrom's spot in the rotation if he can not pitch.
