Hunt is on for parolee who fled with children in motor home

The suspect, later identified as Stephen Houk, 46, was believed to have been involved in a domestic violence incident and had been chased earlier in the day by sheriff's deputies in the Santa Clarita area, until that pursuit was canceled. According to court documents in Oregon, Houk was convicted of sodomy in 2002.

Authorities hunted Tuesday night for a paroled sex offender who led them on an hours-long chase through California in a motor home with his two young children inside. WE also have learned that Houk is a registered. Police said he is considered armed.

The chase transitioned to the 170 North which turns into the 5 Freeway, before continuing north to the Bakersfield area.

Officers eventually surrounded the motorhome with armored vehicles and patrol cars, guns drawn, waiting for Houk to emerge.
