Data from both cameras are processed through an AUBE fusion image signal processor to produce a high quality and low noise image. The camera's ultra sensitivity with clean, noiseless images was previously only possible with interchangeable lens cameras. The monochrome sensor will bring in additional functionality - bokeh and black and white mode - later sometime in Q3 2018 via a software update, but it's the primary 19-megapixel sensor that - in tandem with the 12-megapixel sensor - is of particular relevance in the case of the Xperia XZ2 Premium. Thanks to this display you can enjoy your own 4K HDR content (since this is the only smartphone capable of both creating and viewing 4K HDR). The front camera, however, is a 13MP shooter with F2.0 aperture.
Perhaps in the hope that it can topple the Samsung Galaxy S9, Sony has given the XZ2 Premium a 4K 5.8-inch screen, which improves on the 5.7-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2160) display you'll find on the original XZ2. It's a weird situation, seeing as how Sony nearly always releases its new phones in the United Kingdom, but it doesn't discount the option of buying an imported model.
The Xperia XZ2 Premium is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU. For a more immersive video playback, it also gets S-Force surround sound and a Dynamic Vibration System that vibrates like Sony PlayStation's "DualShock" controllers.
While the Xperia XZ2 comes with 4 GB RAM, the Xperia XZ2 Premium comes with 6 GB of RAM.

Also like the XZ2 is the design. It is backed by a 3,540mAh non-removable battery and also supports QuickCharge 3.0 and Qi wireless charging. With an exclusive glass and metal finish, this smartphone not only looks handsome with a premium feel but is also created to be durable thanks to Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 on both sides. Like any Sony flagship smartphone, it also comes with IP68 dust and water resistance.
Although for a while it seemed like the smartphone camera space had peaked, 2018 has had more than a couple of surprises for those looking to replace their dedicated camera. If there's one thing the company knows, it's how to make a great camera sensor: not for nothing do numerous big names in smartphones already use Sony hardware.
Sony Mobile will review its decision later in the year so hopefully, that means it will decide to give the Xperia XZ2 Premium a United Kingdom launch in the late Summer or early Autumn. Pricing will be detailed closer to the launch.
