Be prepared for tornado emergencies, know these local warning siren facts

The drill is being conducted by the National Weather Service offices in Minnesota and Wisconsin as they issue mock tornado watches and tornado warnings.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has declared this week Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week.

The Williamsburg County watch remains in effect until 11 p.m.

A cold front moving into the Las Vegas Valley will bring strong winds and a slight drop in temperatures this week, according to the National Weather Service. He added there is a potential that wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour could be felt during any thunderstorm events. Another dozen outages were reported in Colleton County. A warning means that action is required because of immediate threats.

Much of the KVOE listening area was under a tornado watch, but that was canceled early with no tornado reports statewide. Later, a mock tornado warning will be issued at 6:45 p.m.to give families and second-shift workers a chance to practice their emergency plans. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall.

The chance for severe weather increased for much of SC on Sunday morning.

Monday's going to be "a very washout morning", News 12 meteorologist Bruce Avery said.
