The Warriors, playing without leading man Steph Curry, found their playoff gear and dominated a hapless Spurs team on Saturday still struggling without Kawhi Leonard.

Double teams flew toward Aldridge in the post, and Golden State's defense rotated on a string to stifle any ball movement. He admitted he was of the view his team were prepared for the contest, but they were clearly not as they were out scored in every quarter except the last one when they registered two points more than the Warriors.

From the opening tip, Golden State was executing smart plays.

The explanations behind the far-less-than-stellar play all season (which still resulted in 58 wins, third-best in the NBA) were freaky and ever-changing: the Warriors were both exhausted and conserving energy, confident and yet concerned. The defense was really poor as far as following gameplan in the first quarter, and it's a bad combination to play defense like that and not shoot on the other end. The Warriors are just vastly more athletic and it allows them to create matchups and opportunities that work for them.

Kevin Durant contributed 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while JaVale McGee, plugged into the starting lineup, added 15 points plus a pair of blocks.

Kerr praised the defensive effort after the game, " We finally got back to defending the way we have, the way this team has, for many years, even before I got here.
