Following his release Friday from Seattle after seven seasons, Sherman, 29, revealed to MMQB.com that facing the Seahawks twice a year factored into his decision to sign with NFC West rival San Francisco. And so is Sherman joining the 49ers.
Sherman smiled. "I've been at the 1-yard line before", he said, "and it didn't go so well".
Not only is that a foolish thing anyway, the Seahawks released the cornerback.
After signing Sherman, I expect the 49ers to avoid giving up the big bucks to any more secondary players in free agency and, instead, target cornerback depth in the NFL Draft. Earlier that day, the three-time All-Pro cornerback quickly came to an agreement with the San Francisco 49ers on a contract, a three-year deal worth up to $39.15 million. They let me go.
In other words, Sherman's $13 million average annual salary comes only if he continues to plays like he did before going down with an Achilles tear in November.

Once connected to a standard Philips Hue hub, the lights can be controlled through the Hue app or a voice assistant. This new outdoor range of lights will be available beginning in July in both the USA and Europe.
Each team indicated they wouldn't match the 49ers' offer. "I didn't abandon anybody".
Sherman also gets, as previously reported, a base salary of $2 million, gets $1 million if he takes part in 90 percent of the 49ers' defensive snaps, and $2 million total if he is on the 46-man roster bonus each week (or, $125,000 for every game he is on the 46-man roster). And I am absolutely ecstatic (read my article on why the 49ers should sign him here).
"Once I make a Pro Bowl, $8 million the next year is guaranteed for me". Though specific terms of the contract have not been made public, Sherman disclosed certain guarantees can roll over into the next year should he make the Pro Bowl.
The Seahawks surely know as well as anyone how Sherman's recovery is going and may well have viewed it as likely being at least a $10 million deal, assuming he gets and stays healthy.
