North Korea's state-sponsored news agency issued a rare press release on Monday, in which the regime's leader, Kim Jong-un, was said to have "expressed satisfaction" after the country's delegation arrived back from a trip to the Winter Olympics in South Korea.
"The point is, no pressure comes off until they are actually doing something that the alliance believes represents a meaningful step toward denuclearization", Pence said.
"The fixed policy of the United States of America is that we are going to continue with all options on the table to bring intensifying economic and diplomatic pressure to bear until North Korea, once and for all, completely and verifiably abandons its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile program", said Pence.
While some in the media fawned over North Korea in the opening days of the Olympics - despite a clear show of propaganda from the murderous regime - others pointed out that North Korea still lives under oppression.
Sceptics question the sincerity of Pyongyang given that two previous summits between the leaders of the North and South did nothing to prevent the development of nuclear bombs and missiles that now threaten the South and the United States mainland.
Upon his arrival back to D.C., Pence tweeted that the US policy on North Korea is "unchanged".

Kim Yo Jong delivered a letter from her brother at a visit to the South's presidential Blue House on Saturday, asking Moon to visit "at his earliest convenience" to which Moon replied both Koreas should try to make conditions that would make the visit possible. "We've said for some time it's really up to the North Koreans to decide when they're ready to engage with us in a honest way, a meaningful way", he said.
North Korea sentenced Otto Warmbier to 15 years of hard labor after he tried to steal a poster in 2016, and only released him when he was in a coma and near death.
