Gold Coast Commonwealth Games: Wrong date printed on opening ceremony tickets

The other athletes named in the squad that will take on top seeds India in the mixed team event are Glasgow 2014 silver medalist Kirsty Gilmour, Kieran Merrilees, men's doubles pairing Martin Campbell and Patrick MacHugh and Hall's fellow Commonwealth debutant's Eleanor O'Donnell from Beith and Julie MacPherson.

The Games kick off on April 4, which falls on a Wednesday, but the first batch of tickets have been issued to customers incorrectly showing the ceremony takes place on a Thursday.

"The Gold Coast community wants to see their political leaders working together to deliver the best Commonwealth Games ever", she told MyGC.

"I was disappointed when Ticketek (the ticketing provider) informed us they had picked up the error", Games chief Mark Peters was quoted by reporters as saying. "The ticketing process has gone really well and this is a glitch that none of us wanted".

A Gold Coast theme park boss has questioned the organisation for this year's Commonwealth Games after an embarrassing ticket error.

According to Gold Coast Bulletin, the problems for the organisers did not end there as it was later discovered on Wednesday that the tickets for varoous events such as weightlifting, table tennis and triathlon had the wrong times written on them. The Games are contested between nations that are members of the Commonwealth, a group of countries that were once part of the British Empire.
