At CES 2018 a variety of products that feature Google Assistant integration have been shown off, but Amazon and Alexa are still a threat significant threat to the Mountain View, California-based tech giant's plans to expand into the voice-activated assistant space.

New research has come out that looks at the number of Americans that own a smart speaker along the lines of the Amazon Echo or Google Home devices. From this week, Android Auto users in the USA will also get full support for the Google Assistant in their cars.

According to Qualcomm, this more powerful version of its platform (SDA624) can drive a Full HD+ display, capture 4K video and support Tensor Flow for on-device machine learning.

Because the Smart Display runs Google Assistant, it can do a lot more. No matter what you want, there's a good chance Google Assistant - and the Lenovo Smart Display - can help you out. The firm said the 2018 OLED TV will use Google Assistant alongside a native system to perform AI capabilities, such as allowing viewers to interact with their TV using their voice. The retail site will sell Google's products and will also sell the Nest smart thermostat, and Google's Assistant will be the main focus of the site. The new Lenovo's smart display uses the company's IoT platform. The Google Assistant recently pushed to LG's Smart Speakers.

Trump to approve 'significantly flawed' Iran nuclear deal for last time
The White House's announcement coincided with a series of new sanctions by the Treasury Department targeting Iranian officials. It also sanctioned agencies that censor or limit access to the Internet.

Both Smart Displays will be available starting this summer.

Lenovo is known for computing, but JBL is a speaker brand first and foremost, which demonstrates the hybrid nature of these devices.

"We'll have to see how that works out", Google's Scott Huffman, a Google VP, said. Someone, it seems, forgot to ask the Assistant for a weather forecast in CES week, and torrential rains on Tuesday forced the Google tent - which proved not to be waterproof in several places - to close.

But as we've seen at CES, manufacturers think the market is hungry for more smart stuff. "However, as we increasingly engage with more virtual assistants in our home, at work, in the auto - and everything in between - a cognitive arbitrator will ultimately be needed to connect the diverse virtual assistants, third-party services and content, and intelligent agents through an interoperable interface".
