Dua Lipa Leads Brit Nominations

Singer-songwriter Sheeran, whose "Divide" was the fastest-selling album ever for a male solo artist in Britain, is nominated in the best solo artist and best album categories for the February 21 awards.

Liam Payne, who was nominated for best British single and best video for Strip That Down, has hailed the power of British music.

In addition to well-received tracks such as No Lie, featuring dance-hall star Sean Paul, and Hotter than Hell, it was her sixth single New Rules that became a smash hit and catapulted her to becoming the most streamed artist on the music platform Spotify a year ago.

Singer-songwriter Sampha, who won the Mercury Prize previous year, competes with Dua Lipa and rappers J Hus, Loyle Carner and Dave in the British breakthrough act category.

The best British band nominees are Gorillaz, London Grammar, Royal Blood, Wolf Alice and The xx.

The coveted best British album category includes Dua's self-titled album, Ed Sheeran's divide, J Hus' Common Sense, Stormzy's Gang Signs & Prayer, and Rag N Bone Man's Human.

Dua Lipa is coming to Abu Dhabi next month.
