Barcelona have loaned former Turkey worldwide Arda Turan to Istanbul Basaksehir for the rest of this season and two more, the Liga leaders said in a statement on Saturday.
The Turkey midfielder has two and a half years remaining on his contract at the Nou Camp, but the 30-year-old will instead see out his deal in Istanbul.
The departure comes as Barca look to lighten their wage bill following the signings of Phillipe Coutinho and central defender Yerry Mina during the past week and it is thought that veteran defender Javier Mascherano could also abandon the club before the end of January.
Basaksehir will pay Barca in variables dependent on a number of factors, including appearances and goals, as well as the team's success with Turan at the club.

Comparatively, maintaining the status quo would see migration falling from 232,000 in 2020 to 220,000 a decade later. Mr Farage said: "What is for certain is that the Cleggs, the Blairs, the Adonises will never ever, ever give up".
The midfielder claimed six titles with Barcelona: one La Liga, two Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, one Club World Cup and one European Super Cup.
Basaksehir club president Goksel Gumusdag said in a statement: 'Arda Turan is returning to his country wearing the orange kit (of Basaksehir). "This is not just a transfer for Basaksehir, but a transfer for all of Turkey".
'Meanwhile, Istanbul Basaksehir will reserve the right to buy the player from Barcelona'.
Turkey's fourth-most capped player will also be hoping to return to his best for the national team after reversing his decision to retire from worldwide football in August.
