Yep, while Mercedes shoehorns F1 engines into supercars, Toyota's doing the same with a World Endurance Championship drivetrain. That's hypercar-rivaling performance, which is something new for Toyota. Say hello, then, to the GR Super Sport Concept, a sibling to the TS050 that now competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), and certainly not your parents' Camry.
The GR Supersport concept draws inspiration from Toyota's LMP1 and you can see the exterior which resembles the LMP1 auto. The front is dominated by a large spoiler and low-slung grill that are both painted black. Toyota has also hinted that this concept uses a fair amount of the same components which means that we are essentially looking at a road-legal hybrid sports auto.
Meanwhile, the GR Super Sport prototype is clearly inspired by the LMP1 racer, with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing taking the continued participation in the WEC as a highly beneficial and necessary project when dealing with newly developed hybrid systems and electrified vehicle (EV) systems.
Zacks Investment Research Upgrades Cheniere Energy (LNG) to Hold
It has underperformed by 16.70% the S&P500.The move comes after 8 months negative chart setup for the $182.54 million company. Bb&T Corp holds 0.01% of its portfolio in Cheniere Energy Partners LP Holdings, LLC (NYSEAMERICAN:CQH) for 11,100 shares.
Despite its massive power output, the LMP1-inspired concept auto is built upon making cars more efficient. "Although it will be some time before you all have the opportunity to get behind the wheel, I hope that the GR Super Sport Concept will give you a taste of what we aim to achieve with our next-generation sports cars", added Shigeki Tomoyama, Gazoo Racing Company president.
Toyota President Akio Toyoda believes the company has a challenge on its hands to make cars that will be fun for the next century, commenting that "Toyota Gazoo Racing aims to continue making exciting cars to bring smiles to our customers' faces and contribute to the future of the automobile industry".
The parts overlap between GR Super Sport Concept and TS050 is considerable, the automaker says, and will be instrumental to development of each in future. Put some decals on it, and you'd swear it was a racing auto.
