Several teams were reportedly trying to trade for Machado during the Winter Meetings, though Arizona wasn't named among the teams trying to make a deal.

The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies have also shown interest in Machado. So that salary should not be a hindrance if the Orioles do trade Machado this year. If they keep him for the season, they could receive a compensatory pick after he turns down a qualifying offer.

Both Machado and Britton have been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, with talks surrounding the latter quieting down following his injury. Knowing their window of dethroning the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West - and entire NL for that matter - is a small one, Machado could be the crucial part in accomplishing their ultimate postseason goals.
