Lionel Messi scored twice as FC Barcelona moved comfortably into the Copa del Rey quarterfinals by thrashing Celta Vigo 5-0 at the Nou Camp in their last 16 second leg game on Thursday.

Alba, who set up both of Messi's goals, got on the scoresheet in the 28th minute as Messi repaid the favour to put the win beyond doubt.

Alba was also the provider for the second goal of the game, featuring a lovely one-two that began with a Messi pass and ended with another Messi goal.

Luis Suarez made it 4-0 before halftime, while Messi was replaced by Ousmane Dembele before the hour mark.

"He does not have anything important but with 4-0 I thought it was time to make the change", the Barcelona boss explained following the win over Celta.

With Philippe Coutinho to come into this side, there are no signs of this remarkable campaign losing momentum for Barca. It wasn't until the last minute that Ivan Rakitic netted the fifth from a corner taken by Dembele. Barcelona's all-time scoring leader swept Alba's cross past Sergio Alvarez despite the goalkeeper getting a hand to the ball, and he followed up by firing home after another exchange of passes with Alba.

Not long after, Andres Iniesta was also withdrawn from the action, and given there was no need to chase more goals, Barcelona were happy to hold the ball and conserve energy for much of the second period.
