Echo Arena thanks emergency services after auto park fire

Investigators with the fire brigade stated that they believe the fire began with an accidental engine fire in the Range Rover at about 4.30 pm.

The fire service said that no one had been seriously injured in the fire, but confirmed it did rescue six dogs from various cars on the site.

Motorists abandoned their cars and fled along with 4,000 people who were evacuated as the final event of the Liverpool International Horse Show was called off at the Echo Arena.

"It was all insignificant as long as everyone was OK and we could get the horses out".

Emergency Services are advising anyone affected by the fire at Liverpool Echo Arena auto park to direct any vehicle enquiries to their insurance companies (quoting reference number 650 of December 31) and not to call the emergency services.

A reception centre was set up for people unable to get home due to the fire and locals volunteered to take in or transport those left stranded. Private individuals offered shelter on social media and through the mayor's office as well.

Emergency services have released photos of a huge vehicle park fire that raged out of control in Liverpool in the United Kingdom on New Year's Eve. "They've worked hard to help everyone they can who has been affected by last night's fire, giving up their NYE".

The horses were moved to safety inside the arena.

Payments have already been made to some of the hundreds of people who lost their vehicles in the blaze on New Year's Eve, with a number of insurers bringing in extra staff to ensure claims are dealt with as swiftly as possible.

Barbour said the incident shouldn't belie "what we achieved in the first five sessions of the show, and we will be back to do it again next December".

Next up on the arena's schedule is "Fast and Furious Live", Jan. 11-12, followed by "Celebrating Sgt Pepper: Live on Jan. 13".

Witnesses said cars seemed to explode every couple of seconds when the fire was at its peak. We ask for everyone's patience and understanding while investigations continue.
