Of course, audio was a big thing this year, but that should be nothing new as companies use CES to unveil new headphones and other types of audio all the time. This redesign will place Google Assistant at the centre of it the company's digital retail experience. Devices that have so far been featured include JBL and LG, who have each boasted the newest smart speakers in the market. One way Google is reportedly looking to do that is by launching a revamped online store in February. Amazon.com's Alexa voice assistant is the early leader and could spur up to $12 billion in Amazon sales in 2020, Stifel, Nicolaus & Co analysts projected this week. The company reportedly aims to make a profit on this device and would likely not have indulged in the market share contest with Amazon and Google over the holiday period. The technology will be introduced in four new display devices this year, including JBL, Lenovo, LG and Sony. In its newest TVs, the Korean company will use Google's Assistant.
Google said this week it's integrating its voice assistant to allow remote control of some settings in Kia and Fiat Chrysler vehicles, while Toyota announced a similar arrangement with Amazon that enables drivers to ask Alexa turn the heat up at home before they arrive.

Google's philosophy regarding Assistant is that it's a way for people to interact naturally with technology and access information inside their homes or cars, without having to take out a laptop or smartphone, says Gummi Hafsteinsson, product management director for Google Assistant. With a display, Google Assistant will be able to play a YouTube video, search for map directions, call a cab and track it, as well as pull up images through Google Photos. If you have changed your default marketplace while using an Alexa-enabled product, you will need to perform this step for each marketplace to delete all voice recordings associated with your account.
General Electric is showing off a suite of smart kitchen gizmos that connect its "Geneva" voice assistant to those of Amazon and Google. Dubbed simply "Lenovo Smart Display", this Google Assistant-based smart speaker offers the convenience of an either 8 or 10-inch screen to facilitate deeper, more intuitive interaction between the user (s), and Google's Assistant.
