Defenceman Alex Pietrangelo was back in action after the captain missed four games with a lower-body injury. With both Pietrangelo and Jay Bouwmeester sidelined in the past week, Schmaltz has appeared in three games for the Blues, averaging 14 minutes 16 seconds of ice time including some power-play duty Thursday against Anaheim and Saturday against Winnipeg.
