Alan Pardew admitted that he fears West Bromwich Albion will lose captain Jonny Evans in January, with Manchester City considering returning for the Northern Ireland worldwide.

"You are never confident when you've got great players because other clubs want great players". Course not. Do I fear losing him?

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans has come on to West Ham United's radar but he would be insane to move to the London Stadium now.

Pardew admits he fears losing the defender after Manchester City, Leicester and Arsenal all bid for him in the summer.

"I understand, we deal with it, Jonny's dealt with it in his way".

Evans has started 12 of West Brom's 15 Premier League games this season, scoring one goal in the 2-2 draw at home to Watford in September. He was terrific for me against Crystal Palace [Pardew's first game in charge, which ended 0-0].

The Baggies now sit just above the relegation zone in the Premier League table having recorded three successive draws, with a visit to bottom-of-the-table Swansea coming up on Saturday.

Albion travel to bottom-of-the-table Swansea on Saturday knowing a win in south Wales would open up a seven-point gap over their opponents.

Pardew has set his players a target of nine wins in order to retain their top-flight status, and the new boss is keen for three points to be recorded at the Liberty Stadium. A six-pointer is when there's two games to go and you need to win six points to stay in the division. The defender could move to Manchester City and potentially win another Premier League title or make a move that could see him play in the Championship next season.
