PM Narendra Modi dedicates Dr. Ambedkar International Centre to the Nation

President Ram Nath Kovind led the nation in paying homage to Dr Ambedkar by offering floral tributes to Baba Saheb at Sansad Bhavan Lawns in the Parliament House complex this morning. The Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot, the Ministers of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri Vijay Sampla & Shri Krishan Pal and the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Statistics & Programme Implementation, Shri Vijay Goel are also seen.

Prime Minister said that the Congress has done great injustice to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Sardar Patel, even making it hard for Dr Ambedkar to join the Constituent Assembly.

The global centre will be a boon for the younger generation and will work on the vision of Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar, the Prime Minister added. This occasion is even more special as I had the opportunity to lay the foundation stone for this centre.

Prime Minister Modi's statement comes after Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi earlier said his family is a devotee of Lord Shiva, but does not believe in using it for political gain.

Such was the incredible strength of Ambedkar that his philosophy and contribution in nation building could not be erased despite the efforts of some people, the prime minister said in his address. Today's generation has the capability and the potential to eradicate social evils.

Prime Minister Modi also talked about the dreams of Dr B.R. Ambedkar for the nation.

"We had said that in one year we will build toilets for girls in all government schools, we have already constructed over 4 lakh such facilities". The home state of the Prime Minister has been witness to massive protests by Dalits against the BJP since past year when two Dalit men were mercilessly flogged in Gujarat's Una by cow vigilantes on the suspicion that they had slaughtered cows.
