Rep. John Conyers, a Michigan Democrat who represented Detroit for more than 50 years, resigned Tuesday amid accusations of sexual misconduct.

Some of his songs included lyrics like, "My n***as turn grams into grands" and "Ay f**k making a living bro, I'm trying to make history/So picture me letting the news nit-pick at me".

Conyers III will likely have competition in the Democratic primary in Detroit as MI state Sen. Conyers III's girlfriend said he attacked her after he searched her computer, and believed she was cheating.

The victim then said Conyers III "body slammed her on the bed and then on the floor where he pinned her down and spit on her".

In addition, prosecutors said the victim had no visible injuries beyond a small stab wound to her lower bicep and no other independent witnesses to what she described as earlier pushing and shoving by Conyers III.

The woman claims he then chased her into her kitchen where she grabbed a 10-inch knife to protect herself, ordering him to leave the house.

Conyers' girlfriend said he grabbed her and pushed her to the ground in the summer of 2016, though he said she fell, according to the woman's account in court documents.

After grabbing a knife, the woman claims Conyers III slashed her in the arm.

Conyers, the longest serving member of Congress, has denied allegations that he settled a 2015 sexual-harassment complaint with a former staffer who claimed she was sacked after rebuffing his advances.

The younger Conyers said he would make a decision 'once I have taken the time to thoroughly listen to our community'.

Conyers expected to be replaced either by his son, Conyers III., or by his great-nephew, state Sen. Ian Conyers, whose grandfather is Rep. Conyers' brother, has already announced his plans to run for the seat.
