Well done Ed! He's just received an MBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace for his services in music and his dedication to charity.

"He had all the commemorative plates and stuff", Sheeran said, "and he died on this day four years ago, so it's actually quite a nice full circle thing".

The Thinking Out Loud singer also revealed he'd be prepared to perform at the wedding of Charles' son, Prince Harry, and actress Meghan Markle, as the couple recently announced their engagement.

Now THAT would be a show.

When he chatted with Prince Charles at the ceremony, the heir to the throne was apparently surprised that Sheeran was going to be leaving London for the States quite quickly after the big event.

The "Perfect" singer was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire this week. But asked afterwards by reporters whether he would do so if invited, he replied with a grin: "Yeah, why not".

It'll be available digitally and at retail for $30 (about R410). In the U.S. , the collection is listed as $29.99 (around £22).

Speaking about his honor, Sheeran remained humble, saying he put it all down to "persistence".

At the end, Ed had a brief conversation with Prince Charles and told him that he was travelling to NY tomorrow for another gig.

The 26-year-old also alluded to the secret to his success: "I think it's persistence".

In the New Year, Sheeran will vie for even more awards: Divide earned GRAMMY nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

The album and its singles have helped him to become one of the most streamed artists on the planet, as well as raking in a staggering collection of number one hits.
