Shazam! just found Billy Batson a friend.

Young actor Jack Dylan Grazer, who turned in a knockout performance as Eddie Kaspbrak in the recent film version of Stephen King's It, has joined the cast of the upcoming DC Entertainment movie Shazam! By saying the world "Shazam", teenager Billy Batson was transformed into the "world's mightiest mortal" and given extraordinary abilities by ancient gods. However, it's not known if this'll actually happen in the film.

The report comes from Deadline who revealed that Dylan will don the role of a DC character known as Freddy Freeman. For a time, Freddy became Shazam! himself after Billy transferred his powers to his friend to save his life.

Directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemk, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi as Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel), Asher Angel as Billy Batson and Mark Strong as the villain Doctor Sivana. He recently confirmed that the target release date for the film is April 2019.
