As soon as the news of Murali suicide spread, students and students union leaders rushed to the spot and not allowed the police to shift the body for post-mortem.

"The university examinations which are scheduled on December 5 have been postponed due to bandh call given by student organisations".

The Osmania University Teachers association on Monday condemned the brutal lathi charge by police on the innocent students in Maneru Hostel on the campus during wee hours of Monday.

Tension prevailed on the campus of Osmania University in Hyderabad throughout the night with students staging violent protests following the suicidal death of a post-graduate student. "Instead of convincing the student, the police have inhumanly beaten them", said Prof.

Things took an ugly turn when the police apparently took action on students within the campus itself.

Foreseeing trouble, police beefed up security and cordoned off the roads leading to the village, preventing politicians and protesters from causing any trouble, reported The Hindu.

E Murali, a first-year student of MSc Physics at the university, was found hanging in the washroom of one of the hostels on the campus on Saturday evening, a senior police official said.

The most important factor, I think, because of which students decide to quit and even sometimes commit suicide, is unemployment.
