In a new twist to the story, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Smith is now being suspended for four games for violating the NFL's performance enhancing substance policy.

According to the report, Smith withdrew his appeal and will begin serving the ban immediately.

Smith was injured in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions and will miss the remainder of the season with an Achilles injury.

Rookies Marlon Humphrey and Chuck Clark, as well as Maurice Canady should see more time with Smith out for the season.

It was not a very good weekend for Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith. Humphrey intercepted Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford in the fourth quarter. Smith was having a Pro Bowl-caliber season so far, leading the league with a 37.0 passer rating on balls thrown his way. Smith, who played his collegiate football at the University of Colorado, was originally selected by Baltimore in the first round (27th pick overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.
