Authorities charged Markiya Mitchell, 25, with second-degree murder in connection with her son Jeremiah Mitchell after police say she admitted to drowning the infant inside her Rochester apartment, the Daily Mail reports. Police didn't identify the adult who found the child and called 911, but they said "that person has been fully cooperative with the investigation".
Jeremiah was transported Rochester General Hospital, where he died, reported WHEC.
The mother, Markiya Mitchell, was taken from the scene and, after being interviewed, admitted to drowning the baby in the bathtub on goal to kill him.
Court paperwork states Mitchell filled the tub with eight to ten inches of water, then intentionally left Jeremiah submerged in the tub alone for 1-2 hours.

The three men are now standing trial in Brooklyn federal court on charges of wire fraud, racketeering, and money laundering. A spokesperson from FOX Sports did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Mitchell will be arraigned on the charge of second-degree murder in Rochester City Court Tuesday morning.
Police revealed that Mitchell has a criminal record, but they would not give details on her criminal history. Mitchell pleaded not guilty and was ordered held in jail without bail. The 25-year-old is also the mother of another child.
Monroe County spokesman Jesse Sleezer said he could not confirm or deny whether a Child Protective Services case was linked to Mitchell and her children. The 7-year-old child is now being taken care of by a family member, according to police.
Mitchell is scheduled to return to City Court Friday morning for a preliminary hearing, with additional charges pending.
