Authorities charged Markiya Mitchell, 25, with second-degree murder in connection with her son Jeremiah Mitchell after police say she admitted to drowning the infant inside her Rochester apartment, the Daily Mail reports. Police didn't identify the adult who found the child and called 911, but they said "that person has been fully cooperative with the investigation".
Jeremiah was transported Rochester General Hospital, where he died, reported WHEC.
The mother, Markiya Mitchell, was taken from the scene and, after being interviewed, admitted to drowning the baby in the bathtub on goal to kill him.
Court paperwork states Mitchell filled the tub with eight to ten inches of water, then intentionally left Jeremiah submerged in the tub alone for 1-2 hours.

Mitchell is scheduled to return to City Court Friday morning for a preliminary hearing, with additional charges pending.
