Gloria Fallon died on November 4, surrounded by family, including Jimmy Fallon, at the NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. This led to the "Tonight Show" canceling all of last week's scheduled shows and replacing them with reruns.

Fallon teased the appearance on his Instagram earlier Monday, saying, "I wanted to make sure we have a very very special, big musical performance and we got one!"

And on Sunday, she went on to surprise over 300 fans at an N.Y.C. pop up shop in support of her album.

Last night saw Fallon's return to the show and opened the show by talking about his mother and her passing as he held back tears.
