No one was seen coming in or out of the house for several days, and a local employer confirmed that one of the adults living in the home hadn't shown up to work for days in a row.
The bodies of Timothy Griffith, 45, his wife Jessica Griffith, 42, stepdaughter Samantha Badel, 16, and son Alexendre Griffith, 5, were found Thursday night inside their home in the northern city of Mapleton, police Chief John Jackson said.
Officers were called to the home around 9 p.m. after neighbors reported that the family had not been seen for days but the lights stayed on and their cars had not moved.
Jackson said police found the bodies inside, along with the family dog, who was also shot to death.

When they arrived, no one answered the door and officers began making an effort to contact family or friends of those that lived in the house, according to the statement. Officers went there after getting a call to check on them.
