As no surprise to anybody, really, the all-new 2018 Volvo XC60 has just been crash tested by the Euro NCAP division and assessed by ANCAP and given the full five-star seal of approval.

Volvo is set to assemble the XC60 at its Bengaluru plant but it is not clear if the SUV will be assembled from the time of launch itself.

The new Japanese crossover Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has achieved the highest ratings - the safety of adult passengers was 97%, and the safety of children and pedestrians have earned 78% and 80%, respectively.

"The adult occupant protection result for the Volvo XC60 is one of the best on record".

A less powerful 190hp D4 diesel unit - from the Volvo S90 sedan - could also be on the cards at a later stage.

Remembrance Day services this weekend
Although a silence is always held at 11am that day Remembrance services are usually held on the nearest Sunday. It takes place at Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground on Dedworth Road.

"The XC60's standard-fit safety technologies are excellent - or rather those that we were able to test, as its Turn Across Path and Run off Road systems are not yet a feature of the Euro NCAP programme".

"This model is fitted as standard with an autonomous emergency braking system which operates at high and low speeds and can detect pedestrians".
