Telltale Games has announced that it's making moves to restructure the company that involved cutting roughly 25 percent of their staff.

In a statement, Telltale said the decision to lay off staff is design to make the company "more competitive as a developer and publisher of groundbreaking story-driven gaming experiences with an emphasis on high quality in the years ahead".

Telltale Games has grown considerably over the past few years, perfecting its formula of releasing episodic adventure games near-simultaneously on console, PC, and mobile platforms. Telltale says the layoffs will not affect any of its ongoing games. Connors was one of the cofounders that helped start Telltale Games, and Hawley was formerly an executive for Zynga before moving to Telltale Games. Telltale has just finished Episode 5 of its "Guardians of the Galaxy - The Telltale Series".

Profit booking subdues equities; rupee, oil prices hurt sentiments
Japan's Nikkei slipped 0.2 per cent, feeling the pinch as the yen remained well above the previous session's lows. The NSE Nifty also moved up by 22.55 points, or 0.21 per cent, to trade at 10,372.70.

At the time of writing, Telltale now has Minecraft Story Mode: Season 2 and The Guardians of the Galaxy in development as episodic releases. The Batman: Enemy Within game is in the middle of its season and the third season of The Walking Dead was completed earlier this year. Its "The Walking Dead" series is said to be the project that made the company popular among gamers.

Along with the layoffs, Telltale's press announcement stated it will also be using "more proven technologies" to develop its games from now on. "We have made available our full career assistance services to help our affected colleagues and friends-and their families-navigate this hard transition as quickly as possible".

Telltale Games was founded in 2004. However, I doubt that this would be seen as a good reason to the 90 people left without a job as a result. The now announced projects that Telltale Games is working on include Guardians of the Galaxy that concluded today, Minecraft Story Mode, the aforementioned Batman: The Enemy Within, and the fourth and final season for the Telltale Walking Dead series.
