For others, there's the new Kindle app.

The new Kindle app has a lighter theme with larger book covers, and an easier way to pop back into the book you were reading by tapping on a thumbnail at the bottom of the screen.

"The all-new Kindle app makes it easier than ever to turn your phone or tablet into a book so you can read anytime, anywhere", an Amazon announcement notes.

Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Voyage have discounts on them. You can now choose which background theme you want while browsing the app.

The changes start with a new app logo that zooms in on the iconic "kid reading under the tree" and does away with the "Kindle" name in the logo itself, which was duplicated in the smartphone user interface. That glow is just in the main app, not in the actual pages of the digital books, where the company says it didn't want to interfere with the reading experience. To help you get recommendations from readers who like the same books, Goodreads also suggests people to follow, including authors and popular Goodreads reviewers.
