Kerala girl who jumped from school building due to alleged harassment, dies

A 15-year-old girl who was battling for life for the past three days succumbed to her injuries on Monday after jumping off 3rd floor of her school in Kollam district in Kerala.

Gouri, a Class 10 student, jumped from the building on Friday after two of her teachers allegedly scolded her. She has been identified as Gauri Neha of Ramankulangara in Kollam.

She was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition. Her sister was reportedly made to sit with boys.

The girl had suffered grievous injuries on her head and spine.

As per the reports, Gauri's younger sister was studying in class 8 and some of the teachers had taken disciplinary action against her after she spoke during class.

The two teachers of the Trinity Lyceum School, who allegedly harassed the girl namely, Sindhu and Cresent were booked under IPC section 305 for abetment of suicide of child or insane person.

The Kollam West Police had registered a case and the investigation is on. Gouri had got into an argument with her teacjers following the punishment to her sister.

The girl jumped from the school building soon after lunch break.

As the siblings were teased by their friends, they entered into a verbal spat.
