A detective from the Leon County Sheriff's Office in Florida rescued a 9ft long yellow anaconda from the roadside with her bare hands as it tried to wrap itself around her Thursday.

She took a large tree branch and used it to put the snake into a gym bag.

This wasn't the first time Shaw handled a snake.

As Shaw handles the snake, a co-worker videotaping is heard laughing in disbelief, cheering her on and calling her "crazy".

However, the crowd later dispersed peacefully after speeches from opposition leaders, helped along by the first heavy rainfall of the season.

"Thanks Detective Emily Shaw for really being #ALLin", the post read.

The massive snake is believed to be someone's pet that either escaped or was released.

The sheriff's office shared the video on the agency's Facebook page. The anaconda was found on the east side of Leon County, near Louvinia Drive. Shaw then slowly drags it to a duffel bag as the anaconda tries to curl its tail around her hand. They reminded pet owners to be responsible and make sure cages are always locked and if they no longer want their pet to contact the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and DO NOT release it into the wild.
