Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has stuck the knife into the concept of consistent team selection yet again by making seven changes for today's Premier League clash with Burnley.

The alterations did not have the desired effect even though Mohamed Salah had swiftly cancelled out Scott Arfield's opener during the first half.

Robbie Brady won an aerial challenge with Trent Alexander-Arnold, heading into the area where centre-halves Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip were drawn into a challenge on Chris Wood. Very few teams will come here and dominate, we knew we would have to do the basics.

Egypt global Mohamed Salah scored in Liverpool's disappointing 1-1 draw against Burnley in the fifth round of the English Premier League. Liverpool's vulnerabilities at the back nearly exposed as Mee rises highest to meet a corner delivery, but sees his header cleared off the line by Alexander-Arnold! The Clarets followed up that famous win with a disappointing home loss to West Brom, but responded nicely with a draw away to Tottenham and a win over Crystal Palace in their next two matches. "We were dominant, fantastic attitude".

"It's always hard to replace top-class players in really good shape, but we did it last season, and I think in most of the games we did really well, so that's it".

"We weren't as good with the ball as we have been in previous weeks, but it's different here".

"This one goal, that's where we have to improve most, to switch the mood in being offensive, being offensive - do, do, do all the time - and then this one situation, a little block here and we missed Arfield, or forgot him, and he can score then.

It's always hard to replace top-class players but we did it well towards the end of last season when we had to play without him".

Liverpool now face successive trips to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City in the League Cup and the Premier League respectively. He wasn't asked to make many saves, but a big one on an 81st minute Ben Mee header may have helped Liverpool salvage at least one point.

"We are a lot more established in this league and we definitely feel part of it now".

"Now we have to use this quality consistently".

Stand-in Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope frustrated the hosts on several occasions and Dominic Solanke saw an effort hit the crossbar in the closing stages as the Clarets held out for a point.

He added, while recalling a 4-0 mauling at Anfield prior to the recent global break: "He was in the team at Liverpool as well". We just need to play in the same way we've played before against Chelsea , in the FA Cup or in the Community Shield.
