Ever since his decision to put a time line on the elimination and replacement of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), both sides of the aisle were scratching their heads. The average DACA recipient earns $17 (U.S.) an hour, more than double the federal minimum wage, according to the Cato report. Black immigrants comprise 5 percent of total immigrants, and majority hail from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, and the Dominican Republic.

DACA gave those who came to the USA before the age of 16 and before June 2007 the ability to stay in this country without the risk of deportation and to qualify for work visas, provided they met other qualifications, such as a clean criminal record and certain educational or military service requirements.

The U.S. economy does not have a fixed number of jobs. If you entered on a visa and overstayed, you could gain legal residency through marriage. As well, the UC and California's attorney general have filed suit against the Trump administration for terminating the program. He said he was going to enforce the law as written. "We need to win the larger battle of immigration reform". Sessions proposed legislation that would impose a mandatory, 5-year minimum prison term on people who re-entered the country illegally.

Addressing Trump over Twitter, King wrote that if the reports were true, "Trump base is blown up, destroyed, irreparable, and disillusioned beyond fix". First, the surge of about 70,000 children from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras began in 2008, four years before DACA began.

And it is not only the children of immigration lawbreakers who are victims. Now, according to the New York Times, officials said that DACA recipients could become eligible for deportation as early as March 2018.

DACA recipients and other undocumented immigrants do not qualify for many government benefits but still put money into the US economy by paying taxes.

The case of Dreamers has been an uncomfortable dilemma for the United States government because it involves questions of fairness and moral duty on one hand and stringent legal stipulations on the other.

DACA recipients now hold upwards of 700,000 U.S.jobs. If you believe otherwise, you have either been brainwashed or are easily guillable. Personally, I'm pro-immigration; my family came here legally in the late 1800s and I'm grateful they did. He has also urged them to join him in overhauling the nation's tax code, among other priorities. Only 12 percent want to deport them. Despite mainstream media hysteria, there will be no nightly immigration raids, nor mass deportation. Neither are those with a gang affiliation or who participate in criminal activities.

"The whole process to even apply for DACA was fairly expensive and it involved a lot of extra work hours for my dad to be able to give me the opportunity to apply", St. Xavier Freshman and DACA recipient, Leslie Abarca, said. Offenses ranged from domestic violence to DUI to burglary.

Though the effects of ending DACA are hard to predict, many throughout the senior living, skilled nursing, and home health care industries oppose any move that would further constrain the available workforce.
