In the USA, users are getting the Pixel XL with 128GB storage, regardless of which version of Nexus 6P device they had. Firstly, the device's FCC code begins with "G" - HTC did the same for the Pixel and Pixel XL, as well as its filing for the Pixel 2. Even those customers who turn in their Nexus 6P units for fix are offered other models in case their phones are beyond fix and must be replaced.

According to the FCC listing, the Google Pixel 2 XL has an FCC ID of ZNFG011C. Now, this speculation has become a certainty as several 6P owners have confirmed receiving the Pixel as replacement for their defective handsets. Furthermore, it isn't clear if Google is handing out replacement models at random. If a person has not bought the phone straight from Google then they won't be offered a Pixel XL as a replacement. However, going by the model number it is safe to assume that this is indeed the gen-next Pixel smartphone from Google. Some users claimed that the tech giant did not mind replacing their phones even if they were no longer under warranty.

Further DxO re-examined the HTC manufactured Google Pixel smartphone which received a score of 90 - one higher than its original score. For one, the sign says "ask more of your phone", hinting that Google will showcase new phones that will be able to do more for its users.

Since last December, multiple users have reported problems with their Nexus 6P after the Nougat update. Last year's Pixel event took place on October 4, and the appearance of a billboard in Boston suggests that the same date will be used this year. So, you will be getting the free replacement done before you mail the defective phone back.
