Target recalls Room Essentials 4-drawer dressers due to serious hazard

The Minneapolis retailer said Wednesday that it has received 12 reports of its Room Essentials four-drawer dressers falling over or collapsing.

Target is recalling thousands of dressers because they could become unsafe.

Target is recalling almost 180,000 dressers because they can tip over and pose a risk to children.

While the USA agency reports 12 have tipped, it adds that no injuries have been reported.

Target sold the dressers nationwide and online from January 2013 through April 2016 for about $118.

The recalled dressers could tip over and pose an entrapment hazard that could result in death or injuries to children. In addition to the 175,000 sold stateside, the CPSC reports another 3,000 were sold in Canada.

Consumers who purchased the recalled dressers are eligible for a refund.

This recall comes a week after 1.6 million dressers sold at Walmart were recalled due to a tipping risk.
