Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne told the Houston Chronicle though that they don't yet know the motive in the slaying of Crystal McDowell, a 37-year-old mother of two. McDowell is in custody on murder charges.
"We don't believe she parked it there", Sheriff Hawthorne said before her body was found, according to ABC News.
The sheriff said that the timing of the hurricane played no part in the homicide.

Friends and family said that Crystal McDowell was content in the days before her disappearance. "God is so good". She vanished right before Hurricane Harvey struck. McDowell was nowhere to be found. Detectives investigated her disappearance and identified several people of interest, including her boyfriend, an uncle and Steven McDowell. But after her body was found, investigators say her ex-husband, Steven McDowell, confessed to killing her.
