Sean Payton: Adrian Peterson and I didn't have a heated exchange

The Minnesota Vikings, a playoff team two seasons ago, host Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in the first Monday Night Football game of the year.

The Saints and Vikings will kick things off at approximately 7:10pm ET, as former Vikings star Adrian Peterson makes his return to Minneapolis. "Listen, I'd tell you if we were in a heated exchange, so why don't you ask him?" the coach said. At multiple times during the game, Peterson looked visibly frustrated, at one point stalking angrily behind Coach Sean Payton on the sideline. I think that with Adrian, obviously he's an important part of what we're doing as a running back.

The Vikings traded up in the second round to select Cook in the 2017 draft, and the move is already paving dividends. New Orleans finished with 344 yards of offense. "Let's not try and spin it. I'm learning, but there's a lot to learn".

It's unclear when Armstead will be back, although it should just be a matter of weeks since the Saints elected not to start him on the physically unable to perform list. "So we're gonna learn from this".

The running back, playing for the first time with his new team and facing his former team Monday night, carried the football just six times for a total of 18 yards.

Brees throws his first Touchdown pass with less than two minutes to go in the game to Coby Fleener to bring the lead to 10.

Modern-Era nominees for Pro Football Hall of Fame announced
Among the group announced are 11 first-year eligible players, including Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, Brian Urlacher and Ronde Barber. He was a finalist for the 2017 class and is widely regarded as one of the best interior offensive linemen of the modern era.

"Of course it's tough", admitted Peterson.

"You can't really say enough about him, to be able to come in and play as many snaps as he did to keep pounding and pounding and finally break a few at the end". "And that happened too early in the fourth quarter".

The Patriots will now have a chance to see Peterson as an opponent after that meeting, which may have provided a little bit of information in terms of advance scouting. "What was it, like nine snaps? Eh".

Peterson is more of a base-down runner, while the Saints prefer Ingram and Kamara in the passing game. He had six carries for 18 yards.

Peterson was the primary receiver on a play-action pass inside the 5-yard line during the second half, but Minnesota's defense snuffed it out. Again, they're all productive and I'm sure that New Orleans will do a good job of trying to get those guys opportunities in the things that they are good at, things that they do well.
